Steel Horse Rally 2023

Steel Horse Rally

Always hoping this will be a Sanctioned event for an AR chapter, but never happens. But, riding up there with Boudreaux so we'll have our cuts on.  Meeting up with MS CVMA folks for the third year in a row.  Perfect.  Donnie and Stump are rolling in; perfect.   Lucy and Nancy are caging up ...  perfect.

Now, we just need some great weather to make this an awesome weekend.... bring it on!

Let's ........ RIDE!!!!

Became aware of a situation yesterday that sort of makes my 'head hurt.'  Reminds me of 2018 time frame, when the leader of our pack got called out for basically, not wearing jeans with his Cut .. I mean .. vest.   Apparently he was disgracing the whole organization by the shorts he was wearing out at a hardcore motorcycle Rally.  I remember when the witch hunt was in full force and the burning at the stake was in process .. thinking ...  what a bunch of pussys whining.  Honestly .. that's what I was thinking.   He and his hard core close circle are actually what made me like joining up.  Not everyone liked it of course.  Go out and this small circle were getting fired up, pounding beers, and getting loud.  Sound like anyone you know?  Then the old geezer section was filled with all the old mature guys looking well. ... miserable.   But hey .. at least they had their jeans on?  Soon, the witch hunt was complete, we had a change of the guard and the 'shamed' individual took a back seat for awhile.  Eventually the others in his circle moved on, threw in their .... um .. vests.

Spoke to someone yesterday who whom is still a "newbie" (less than a year in the mix) but ready to throw in his ...... vest. Barely been with us six months, I'd never really met him before, spent quality time with ... but he was watching all the drama and BS and wondering WTF he'd signed up for.   Ready to walk. Hell, reminds of the BS and sort of how I felt back in '18.  Well, without crossing borders put in place for me, I gave him my motivational speech and stopped short of begging him, to reconsider.  Simply asked "Stay for awhile and see if things change (they will). "  We've unloaded the trash in the last month, the trouble people have been reduced to just a tiny few and the rest of us ... well, we can Ride.   That's all he wanted to do.  Wants to do. Hell, mainly what I want to do. But it is rarely done as a group; a large group.  But myself and a few others have been trying to do just that. For as long as I've been in the mix.   So, I'm remotivated to continue on what I'd started last year.  Put together more rides.  More group rides.  More two lane roads. Maybe an overnighter or two.  Get people out doing what we're supposed to do on motorcycles.  And along the way, if we have the opportunity to help a fellow compadre' that served with us...   good news.  But my primary focus for 2023?

Let's FUCKING RIDE!

ChatGp

Have to admit... I thought I'd be a lil' more impressed after reading up on ChatGP this morning.  I've pretty much ignored it all until earlier this week after my niece had made a comment, which had me looking closer at an article early this morning.    So, on a whim... tried it out with a few BS questions.  Needed a subject.. so.. motorcycles...

Huh.   Found a few discrepancies in areas like how to steer.  Good thing it doesn't ride?
How do you ride a motorcycle?

As an AI language model, I haven't ridden a motorcycle myself, but here are some general steps for riding a motorcycle:

1. Dress appropriately: Wear protective riding gear, such as a helmet, gloves, boots, and a jacket with protective padding.

2. Mount the motorcycle: Place one hand on the handlebar and swing one leg over the seat to straddle the motorcycle. Sit upright and grasp the handlebars with both hands.

3. Start the motorcycle: Turn on the ignition key and press the starter button or kickstart the motorcycle.

4. Accelerate: Press the throttle with your right hand to increase the motorcycle's speed. Use the clutch to shift gears up or down and brake with both the hand (front brake) and foot (rear brake).

5. steer the motorcycle: Lean the motorcycle in the direction you want to turn by pressing on the handlebars in that direction.

6. Ride defensively: Be aware of your surroundings and anticipate potential hazards. Avoid sudden movements or jerky acceleration or braking.

7. Come to a stop: Gradually decrease your speed by easing off the throttle and use the brakes to slow down. Put your feet down to stabilize the motorcycle as you come to a complete stop.

It's important to note that riding a motorcycle can be dangerous, so it's crucial to take a motorcycle riding course or seek experienced guidance to help you learn and practice safe riding techniques.

What is the purpose, the value, of riding a motorcycle with friends?

The purpose and value of riding a motorcycle with friends can vary for different individuals, but some common reasons include:

1. Bonding: Riding a motorcycle with friends can strengthen bonds and create a sense of camaraderie, especially if all the riders share the same passion for motorcycling.

2. Adventure: Motorcycling can be an exciting and adventurous experience, and riding with friends can add to the excitement and make the journey more memorable.

3. Relaxation: Riding a motorcycle can be a way to escape the stress of everyday life, and doing so with friends can create a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

4. Safety: Riding with friends can also increase safety, as riders can look out for each other and communicate any potential hazards on the road.

5. Community: Riding with friends can also contribute to a sense of community, as groups of riders often participate in rides and events together, and can support each other both on and off the road.

Well, this one is disappointing.  I thought I'd get a lengthy dissertation with a true history lesson on it... instead, it basically copy/ pasted current rhetoric.
What is the history of Indian motorcycle?

Indian Motorcycle is an American motorcycle brand that was founded in 1901 in Springfield, Massachusetts. The company was originally named the Hendee Manufacturing Company, after its founder George M. Hendee, but was later renamed as Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company in 1923.

Indian Motorcycle gained popularity in the early 1900s due to the company's innovative design and engineering, which included the development of the "loop-frame" design that became a signature feature of their bikes. Indian motorcycles were also known for their speed and reliability, and the company became an early contender in motorcycle racing.

During World War I, Indian motorcycles were used by the U.S. military, and the company continued to produce military motorcycles throughout World War II. After the wars, Indian Motorcycle faced financial difficulties and eventually went bankrupt in 1953.

In 1955, the Indian Motorcycle brand was sold to an English company, but the company struggled to produce motorcycles that lived up to the Indian Motorcycle name. In 2011, the brand was acquired by Polaris Industries, and the company began producing new motorcycles under the Indian Motorcycle name.

Today, Indian Motorcycle produces a range of motorcycles that pay homage to the brand's storied history, while also incorporating modern technology and engineering. The brand has regained its status as a top contender in the motorcycle industry and continues to be a beloved brand among motorcycle enthusiasts.

Nothing new hear...   it found a blurb somewhere and repeated it

So .. wasn't impressed.  Guess I've got some playing around to do.  Seems like a Search Engine(s) on steroids for now...

Part B...   Trying this again from my laptop.  Above was via phone app

Why did Indian Motorcycle fail?

Indian Motorcycle has had a tumultuous history, with multiple ownership changes and periods of financial difficulty. The original Indian Motorcycle company was founded in 1901 and quickly became a successful manufacturer of motorcycles. However, the company struggled in the face of competition from other American motorcycle manufacturers such as Harley-Davidson.

Indian Motorcycle went bankrupt in 1953, and the brand was revived several times over the years by various owners, but with limited success. The most recent attempt to revive the Indian brand was in the late 1990s by a company called the Indian Motorcycle Company of America. Despite initial success, the company struggled financially and was eventually purchased by Polaris Industries in 2011.

There were several factors that contributed to Indian Motorcycle's struggles over the years, including strong competition from other motorcycle manufacturers, financial mismanagement, and changing consumer preferences. In addition, the company's reputation suffered in the 1950s due to quality control issues, which damaged the brand's image and led to declining sales. Overall, a combination of factors led to Indian Motorcycle's failure and subsequent struggles to regain its place in the motorcycle industry.

Well, I call BS.  S&S did NOT design nor produce the 105ci motor ... lol
What is Indian Kings Mountain bikes?

Indian Kings Mountain bikes were a series of motorcycles produced by the Indian Motorcycle Company of America between 2008 and 2011. These motorcycles were named after the location of the company's manufacturing facility in Kings Mountain, North Carolina.

The Indian Kings Mountain bikes were designed to evoke the classic styling of the original Indian motorcycles, with features such as a long, low-slung profile and a distinctive front fender design. The bikes were powered by a 105 cubic inch (1720 cc) V-twin engine that was designed and manufactured by the Swiss company, S&S Cycle.

The Kings Mountain bikes were intended to revive the Indian brand and capture a share of the American cruiser market, which was dominated by Harley-Davidson at the time. However, the bikes were produced in limited numbers and were not commercially successful, and the Indian Motorcycle Company of America was eventually sold to Polaris Industries in 2011. Despite this, the Kings Mountain bikes remain popular among collectors and enthusiasts for their unique design and connection to the Indian brand's history.

Hmmm....   I rendition of the KM monologed, but fairly true
What are Indian motorcycle spirit lake models?
Indian Motorcycle Spirit Lake models are a series of motorcycles produced by Indian Motorcycle, a subsidiary of Polaris Industries. These motorcycles are manufactured at Indian's Spirit Lake, Iowa production facility.

The Spirit Lake models include a range of cruisers, touring bikes, and baggers, such as the Indian Scout, Indian Chief, Indian Chieftain, and Indian Roadmaster. These motorcycles feature a range of engine sizes, ranging from a 69 cubic inch (1133 cc) liquid-cooled V-twin engine on the Scout to a 116 cubic inch (1890 cc) Thunder Stroke engine on the Roadmaster.

The Spirit Lake models are known for their classic American styling, with features such as swooping fenders, valanced mudguards, and chrome accents. The motorcycles also incorporate modern technology, such as touchscreen infotainment systems and electronic rider aids.

Overall, the Spirit Lake models represent the modern incarnation of the Indian Motorcycle brand, continuing the legacy of the historic American motorcycle manufacturer while incorporating modern engineering and design.

Highly Regarded!  Got that ? :)

The Power Plus motor was renowned for its power, reliability, and smooth operation, and it played a significant role in establishing Indian as one of the premier motorcycle manufacturers of the era.

While the original Power Plus motor was produced over 100 years ago, Indian Motorcycle has revived the engine for modern use in its current lineup of motorcycles. The modern Power Plus motor is a modernized version of the classic engine, with improvements in materials, engineering, and technology to enhance its performance and reliability.

The Power Plus engine is known for its smooth power delivery and distinctive sound, which are highly valued by motorcycle enthusiasts. The engine's design also incorporates a number of features that enhance its durability and longevity, such as a forged crankshaft, dual cams, and hydraulic lifters.

Overall, the Power Plus engine is highly regarded among motorcycle enthusiasts and has played an important role in establishing Indian as a leading manufacturer of high-quality, American-made motorcycles. While there may be other engines on the market that offer different benefits and advantages, the Power Plus motor is highly regarded for its power, reliability, and historic significance.

are men or women better motorcycle riders?
There is no evidence to suggest that one gender is inherently better at riding motorcycles than the other. Riding a motorcycle requires a combination of physical skills, such as balance and coordination, as well as mental skills, such as attention and decision-making.

Both men and women can develop these skills with practice and training, and there are many skilled motorcycle riders of both genders. However, men and women may face different challenges when it comes to riding motorcycles, such as differences in body size and strength or social barriers that discourage women from participating in the activity.

Ultimately, the question of who is a better motorcycle rider is subjective and depends on a range of factors, such as individual skill level, experience, and confidence. It is important to remember that safe riding practices and responsible behavior on the road are more important than gender when it comes to riding motorcycles.

How do you speedshift a motorcycle?
Speed shifting, also known as clutchless shifting, is a technique used by some motorcyclists to shift gears without using the clutch lever. Here's a general guide on how to do it:

Accelerate your motorcycle to the desired speed for the gear you want to shift to.
Release the throttle and apply upward pressure on the gearshift lever with your foot to start the shift.
At the same time, use the toe of your foot to apply a brief, firm upward pressure on the gearshift lever while maintaining a slight amount of pressure on the gear shifter.
While still maintaining the upward pressure on the gearshift lever, roll off the throttle slightly to unload the transmission and allow the gears to slide into place.
Once you feel the gear has engaged, roll the throttle back on to accelerate again.
It is important to note that speed shifting can be hard on your motorcycle's transmission and should only be done if you are confident in your ability to execute the technique properly. Also, some motorcycles may be better suited for speed shifting than others, so it is important to understand the specific characteristics of your motorcycle before attempting this technique.

Best way to shift motorcycle for racing?

Shifting gears on a motorcycle during a race requires a different technique than typical street riding. Here are some general guidelines for shifting gears on a motorcycle for racing:

Preload the shifter: Apply upward pressure on the shifter before you initiate the shift. This helps ensure a quick and smooth shift.

Use a quick shift system: Some motorcycles come with quick shift systems that allow you to shift without using the clutch. This can save valuable time during a race.

Use the throttle to unload the transmission: Rolling off the throttle slightly as you initiate the shift can help unload the transmission and make the shift smoother and quicker.

Shift at high RPM: Shifting at high RPM ensures that the engine stays in its peak power range and helps maintain momentum on the racetrack.

Practice: Shifting gears quickly and smoothly during a race takes practice. Find a safe location to practice shifting at high speeds and work on perfecting your technique.

It is important to remember that shifting gears during a race requires a different approach than street riding and should only be done by experienced riders who have the necessary skill and training.

Are motorcycle clubs bad or good?
Motorcycle clubs can be both good and bad, depending on the specific club and its members. Many motorcycle clubs are formed around a shared interest in motorcycles and a desire to participate in group rides and other activities. These clubs can provide a sense of camaraderie and community for their members, and can be a positive influence on their lives.

However, some motorcycle clubs have been associated with criminal activity and violence. These clubs, often referred to as outlaw motorcycle clubs or "one-percenter" clubs, have been involved in organized crime, drug trafficking, and other illegal activities. These clubs can pose a danger to their members and to the broader community.

It is important to note that the vast majority of motorcycle clubs are not involved in criminal activity and are simply groups of people who share a love of motorcycles. Like any organization, there are good and bad examples, and it is important to judge each club and its members on their own merits.

So confusing :)
Is the CVMA a motorcycle club?
Yes, the CVMA (Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association) is a motorcycle club that is made up of combat veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces who have served honorably in the combat zone. The organization is registered as a non-profit veterans service organization and is dedicated to supporting veterans and their families. The CVMA also participates in various charitable activities and community events to raise awareness and support for veterans issues. It is important to note that the CVMA is not an outlaw motorcycle club and does not condone criminal activity or violence.

Specialty Plates finally ... well, almost

Last year I thought... " I wonder" and was shocked this was available. So, put it on order and .. waited.  Headed down to the County office today to pick them up after their delivery had been delayed.

Well, that'll make you feel stupid.  I've ordered custom and military plates for my bikes and cages for over a decade.  Always gone smooth.  Well, until now.  Go to pick up my motorcycle plates that I ordered ages ago and were on back order for a few months .. and .. ...wrong size shows up.   So I'm thinking well, I'll just put them on a cage except ....   4 out of 5 have Military Medal plates (MSM or Air Medal) and I refuse to pull them off for this.  Could put it on the Jeep in MS .. and .. that's my Plan B if stuck with it... so a call in to My Plates.

Well, for $50 my dumbass mistake can be corrected which I do of course.  I really want this one on the Trike since it'll spend a lot of time in Parades, Events, etc...  and at some level want to show off the CVMA part.  Simple as that.

Now...we wait ... again.

Start Ups....

Sometimes, reminds me of the movie "Wild Hogs" ... LMAO.  Hell, I remember back around '09 some friends wanted to start up a riding group of sorts, but that movie was all I could think about.  I had zero desire to be part of a fiasco in the making.  Two years later I became aware of the Iron Indians (IIRA) so joined up, but it'll still be a few years before I cracked their code, so to speak. By 2014 I was putting together the Fandango Chapter in East Texas, as the founder. I wanted to ride .... and being part of this group gave me a group to connect to.  Still for me it was all about the 1/2 dozen of us that rode locally.  By 2015 that had started to change as I became more immersed in the association. At the same time, we had a small butt hurt group break off and start their own association, bad mouthing ours.  Funny part to me is those 'founders' didn't have their shit together.  Weren't bad ass bikers or anything.   To me, most were posers and just wanted their own control since they couldn't get it in the IIRA.  To this day, they've never truly taken off.  They have an annual event and can't stay above 99 remembers... .last I heard it was 75 and that includes many non riders (spouses). To this day I've stuck with the IIRA, though I'm less active in it.  Participated in the annual reunions in '11,and '14-'19. Covid caused a bump in '20, I missed the '21 as well as the main event last year.....   sort of on the side lines for now.  My only complaint.... it's always seems like 'crickets' on annual and regional events... frustrating.

Dual Patched: Back in '17 focused on the CVMA and was patched in by March of '18, as a full member.  Been going 100mph with them the last five years attending various National, Regional and State events.   Looking for other chapters with events to give me an excuse to put on miles.  Still, nothing is perfect and in an organization in excess of 20k members.... every once in a while you come across a flake or two. Trick is to just move on, keep one's boundaries, focus on the success of the masses and one's contributions. I remember back around late '18 or so several chapter members were talking about flipping over to a Veteran based MC and I actually was interested.  But thank goodness that all fell by the wayside and here I'm am five years later enjoying the good times with the CVMA.  Everything isn't perfect in my world as I type this. I've hinted that via a few posts the last few months... but... all good in the big picture.  Still, I'm privy to seeing a 'rerun' of what I saw back in '15 with another organization.  Recently, I became aware of more than a 1/2 doz folks bailing out to start their own group.  A few MF'd those of us in our organization, pointing fingers.  Guessing they don't have a mirror to look to see the actual problem(s)?  Hell, I remember when I first met the 'leader' of their new mess, I wondered what their agenda was.  I sensed it.  First thing they said to me was " I know you don't like me but..."  I cut them off with a 'huh?  I never said that" and we got along from then on out.  I didn't have a problem with them. But I wasn't looking for new friends and ....   I had a gut feeling there was an agenda in play.  This individual transferred in from another chapter for their own personal reasons, had issues with others in that chapter... and bailed to ours.   Then made a power play successfully and ...   here we are today.  Nothing ....nothing.... was accomplished IMHO during that person's tenure.  They bumped heads with a few.  Attempted to fuk' over a few.  But ... when the smoke cleared, folks survived and they.. this person .. bailed to start another group blaming others.

I guess that's my hang up in these situations.  The folks I'm talking about in both instances didn't come up with a new idea.  Didn't start up in a new region .. with new people.  Like whiney lil' bitches they pointed fingers, blamed others and bailed leaving their patches behind.  I became aware of this when my phone started ringing and folks asked me if I had bailed .. and I was like "WTF? Of course not!"   I wouldn't have if asked.  But ..... wasn't asked.  Guessing a few knew I'd see through the BS.   Hell, I don't even have a high level of respect for a few that did do it ( not all of course .. but .. select few).   Heck, my surprise was a few others didn't go along with them... but .. maybe I underestimated those few.  Maybe I've got them 'wrong' in my book.  Guess we'll find out eventually if I'm wrong or right.

Guessing things are going to be better... smoother .. more of a brotherhood. More like it used to be before someone's power play ....

UPDATE:
Noticed this a month or so later... funny shit

Person 1's Post
Person 1 is feeling disappointed.

It's completely crazy to me that to some people a brotherhood is completely dependent on someone's ability to agree on everything. The moment you decide it's time that you need to move on to bigger and better things for whatever reason you may have, it requires that they need that brotherhood to be broken.
No worries brother, I will always wish you the best regardless of how you feel about my decisions.

Person 2
Amen. I find it quite sad when you decide to move on from something for whatever reason and suddenly the brothers you thought would always be there turn on you because you no longer part of the same group. I thought brotherhood went beyond what you have on your back or what organization you are part of. Especially when they were offered to be a part of it and chose to stay. My decision to leave was not something i did to others. It was a decision i made for what was best for myself and my wife. I chose to keep my dignity and no longer be part of an organization that has stabbed me in the back on multiple occasions. Was i supposed to be ok with it and just roll over?

Person 3
Person 2,  now you understand why I stepped down and have stayed away. Too much drama.

Person 1
Person 3,  was intended to be a drama free exit, unfortunately some didn’t see it needed to be that way. Vindictive is the word that comes to mind in this sadly.

Person 3
Person 1,  I hear ya brother. I was very surprised by the way things went down. I will see you tomorrow at Person 2's

Person 1
Person 3 ok brother see ya there

Person 2
Person 3,  Sadly yes. Wish it would have turned out like it was supposed to be initially...some people's choices made the decision a lot weasier."

Funny part to me ... is .. this was all posted publicly so 'everyone' could see it.   Like I've always said.. whiney lil bitches :)

The Great Reset....

I wrote about this .. in code ...  few months back.

I've been riding for over forty years.   Been hard core now for about the last 14 years.  Been involved in several groups along the way, going 'all in' with a couple.  But now.... just have a different view.... viewpoint.   I don't like the view that I have.   Maybe as time goes on, my thoughts will change.  Probably will.  But, just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Now the problem is ... and I'm wrestling with this... am I right .. or am I wrong?   I don't see an issue.  I believe I acted correctly.  Most see my view as the correct one. Many see it as 'comical.'  Few see it as I was wrong.  At least one of those, I respect their opinion and understand their point as to why I'm wrong in their opinion, from their perspective.

I've told many over the years I don't see everything 'black or white'.  I pride myself on working through the 'gray' areas.  Always have.  I see this as one of those.  But, 'is what it is'.  Sadly, it's 'reset' my thoughts.. my feelings ... as of now.

I refuse to walk away.  I've wrote about the one.  Seen others throw in their patch and I laughed at them.  Ridiculed them.  Lost respect for them.  I've become aware of a dozen or so folks that have done just this last month.  I don't agree with their reasoning.  Apparently they aren't 'happy' with the way things worked out for them.  Hell, I'm not happy with my situation but you don't see me throwing in my cut and searching for a safe place. Those that walked, left...Lil Bitches' is what I'm thinking of them as I type this.  All of them. See ya' .............

Me .... my brain has reset.   I'll take things slowly.  Be a lil' more picky whom I let into my circles.  A lil more picky of whom I call family ... . brother.... sister.   I'm sure a year from now this will all be a distant memory ... or not.   I honestly hate this feeling.   I'm not a narcissist whom does no wrong.  Hell, I admitted I was wrong.  I simply don't believe the 'time' fit the 'crime'.  Simple as that.

Moving forward, I'll just do things 'my way', within the 'law.'  But ... I miss the 'old days'.  The way I felt .... before the 'reset.'

Tips for Riding....

Great Reminders!!!

1. Slow down a little. That S curve is sharper that you think!
2. Just because your bike can go 100 mph between two stoplights doesn't mean you should do it.
3. Maintenance is that un-fun thing you do to keep from walking home!
4. When in doubt, always take a jacket. When not in doubt, still take the jacket.
5. It always seems farther back home than it was to your destination. Don't ride so far that it stops being fun!
6. Ride safe! No one wants to attend your funeral and talk about how much you loved bikes. They want to go riding with you and talk about what a great time you had.
7. Stop for gas even if you don't need it. You may wish you had later.
8. Chrome wont get you laid, unless you're already good looking.
9. WAVE!!!! Even if the rider is on a scooter or a different brand. They just might be saving for their "Dream" motorcycle.
10. Don't ride beyond your skill level trying to keep up with the rider in front of you.
11. Keep your passenger feeling safe. They're riding with you because they trust you. Don't scare them & ruin motorcycling for them.
12. Buy quality rain gear. Being wet when it's warm is tolerable. Being wet when it's cold is miserable.
13. Riding 500 miles a day on the interstate is do-able. Riding 500 miles a day in the mountains is impossible. Allow yourself time to "see the sights".
14. The larger the group, the longer it takes to get there.
15. The "ride" is about the Journey, not the destination.
16. Remember to have fun.
Life, and riding, is not a contest. You can't win them all.

🤷‍♂️if you know... you know🤣

Now THAT .. is funny!  Well, sort of ...  On a positive note, that ship is about to go back 'upright'

Finally!

Guess you could say it was the first ride of the year?  Beautiful day in the 80s, used Crawfish as an excuse, but ... hit the road and smiled the whole way there and back.

Spreading the Love ........

Since '11, been riding with the IIRA.  Few years later, signed up with  the IMRG (Life Member). AMA member but they are sort of low key in the big picture.   Since then, I've bumped my Americana Legion membership up to Lifetime.  Haven't rode with them yet, but I'd like to.  Just a few weeks ago, bumped my VFW Lifetime to Legacy Gold level. Haven't rode with them yet, but I'd like to. Last year, joined the AmVets as a Lifetime member.   Haven't rode with them yet, but I'd like to.  This year (2023) I just want to RIDE!   My goal this year is to keep the head down, stay away from the Drama (and there is LOTS of it going on as I type this).  Put some miles on.  Meet some new folks out there at events. I'm ready ..... temp yesterday was in the 80s; today not so much ...brrrr.

This year I want to do the opposite of what I've done the last five years.....   "Defocus" on certain things, and get involved in more things ... other things..... on 2 wheels of course.

This year ....... it's about the RIDE.

And.. there you have it

Found myself in a situation recently that well.. I was fucking PISSED about.  But, got through the emotional stage and then to the reality stage. Had to remind myself of what I told others.  So, I'm good.  Back on Track.  Focused.  Just ...............waiting.

But now... watching Chaos ensue, by lil bitches that well.. don't heed my advice?  LMAO .

MY POST:   >>>   GIVE UP THE PATCH!

Bottle Cap Ride - Edited

Great day for a ride.   Pushing into the 70s, felt humid... time to roll!  Chief can't make it, but Dutch is in.  Boudreaux and Nance want to put some miles on their 'new' trike they recently converted.  Lucy can't make it, so I pick a destination she doesn't like to go to ....  Bottle Cap!

I've broke out Krome today for this ride; that bike misses my love.  Or, maybe I have it backwards?  Dutch and I head over to Boudreaux's home, they mount up and we work our way into Greenville ... the 'long way', as best as possible.  We pop out on 380 with a few miles to go and roll up after 1300 hrs.  Now.... here's the point of this blog post.  Before we left Chief asked me if we could 'wear our cut's in "

Headed to the VFW for a few cold ones then headed home.  Ran into a guy we used to work with (Sonny) and shared a few.. I mean .. LOT .. of stories about the Good ol' days.  Dutch got to share some of his from his L3 days at the plant.  And the icing on the cake; Boudreaux and Sonny joined the VFW as members.   Oh yeah, I picked up a few VFW tee shirts, because I obviously need more.

Yep ..  was a good day to ride!

Still have their vests on ...

Looking good in MY vest !  lol

My double cheese burger wrapped in lettuce... was good!

Rolling out from Bottle Cap

VFW

Looking good!  I LOVE the look of this trike..but, I'm biased

Common Sense still exists!

Before we left Chief asked me if we could 'wear our cut's in there'.  I made some smart ass reply that I would be.   Couple of years ago, some 1% MC was having an event out this way and a few places had their sphincters' tighten up from Greenville to Emory  and for the first time said no to MC's wearing their colors.  Hell, we've had a chapter meeting at Bottle Cap previously with no issues, but that was a couple of years ago and previous to the MC issue.  Well, as we get off the bikes, Dutch says the same thing to me.  "Can we wear these cuts in there?" I'm full of myself and head to the door.  I notice they are taking a LONG time out there by the bikes and even notice they take off their vests and I'm thinking WTF and continue in.  Unbeknownst to me, an employee has come up to them and told them "we want your business but we don't allow vests" so they do the 'right thing' and are soon headed in.  I walk in by myself. Looking up at the front door in the top left corner, there it is on a small sign : " No Club Colors."

Young kid whom is the host has a dreading look on his face as I walk in, tower above him at twice his size and asks me 'how many' obviously uncomfortable.   I tell him I'm waiting for the others; four total.  Then a really nice attractive lady in her mid 30s comes to his rescue, whom is obviously the manager.  Her bad news is now delivered to me.  "I'm sorry, we don't allow motorcycle clubs to wear their vests here".  I simply replied with "this isn't an MC vest.  We are in a Veteran's based association. Not a Motorcycle club that she's thinking ( I named a few which she acknowledged). "   She's now staring at the front of my vest, I turn and hear her say "Combat Veteran" and ... she's contemplating the situation.  She immediately apologizes and says "Oh ... Veteran. come on in!" and the situation has been diffused.

Now the fun part for me is when the other three roll in cut-less and I'm smirking and ensure they hear the story at the bar while we grab lunch and a few cold ones.  Looking up at the big screen TV I see the US score against Iran with the point that will win their game eventually (looked painful as the kicker took a knee to the groin as well!).

Update #1:  Well, that didn't work out so well.  I ended up violating a new rule I was unaware of that had changed less than two weeks prior.  I don't agree with any of how it went down, or the consequences.  But, it was it is.  There's a couple of "Lesson's Learned " in there  .....

Update #2:   You know.... I guess some things just bug me... and I always feel compelled to speak my mind. As I re-read this I forgot to add more info/depth to the post. Had they not allowed me in there with the vest, I would have left, headed to my bike and put my vest in the bag and returned. The other folks had done just that. Now.. had I been traveling by myself and I would have walked off, got on my bike .. and left. I'm not if I would ever return .. ever. That was actually in my thoughts .. before walking up to the door. I'd heard a rumor about the vest issue, but again .. I'd never seen the sign nor heard of it before that day. I'd worn my vest(s) in there before with zero issues. That all being said, there wasn't a motorcycle in the parking lot but ours. It was a mid week, after lunch crowd. I was not boasting or bragging... the purpose of this post was ... the manager used common sense. Anyone that doesn't see that, we'll just agree to disagree. Finally, for obvious reasons. If I come across another 'sign' like this one in an establishment and wearing my CVMA vest ... I'll  either remove it or simply leave, taking my business somewhere that deserves my money. But ... once again.. the main point of this post was about the Manager. Nothing else, Nothing more.

Still have their vests on ...

Looking good in MY vest !  lol

My double cheese burger wrapped in lettuce... was good!

Oh hell no!  I'm just being a smart ass .. but .. I do love that song.  But this year.... i may RIDE alone more often.  Well, for events.  I'm going to try something different for 2023.  I went out of my way the last few years to get folks to ride.   Except for a few takers, it's equivalent to hitting one's head against the wall.  So for 2023, my plan is to find many .. lots .. of Chapter Meetings, events, Sanctioned events in and out of state ... and put some miles on.  From a DRP / LRRP perspective, I want to make sure each one 'counts.'   So for out of state events, they must be sanctioned (for Tri-State tab).  Within Texas for 1500 of the overall miles, sanctioned for the Inner-State tabl.  For just DRP, sanctioned or ...  chapter related.  This is pretty much 'everything' else.  If it's just a 'ride', needs to be with other CVMA members whenever possible.

First up, heading to Shreveport LA for their Polar Plunge 4 Feb.   I've told a few about it.  Even have my Airbnb locked down and paid for. It's walking distance to the VFW where the event is held, but only 3 bedrooms so why tell the whole world beyond the few that no know about it?  Those others can find their own place to stay; js.  I considered riding to the Leather and Lace ball, but Lucy doesn't seem interested in flying out to it for a meet up. So next up, hoping to head to Brownsville once 23-15 finally posts their March event.   Not going to advertise that one either.   Hey .... if you read about it here and are interested, ask me for info... be glad to share.  But for '23, I'm not going to push hard like previous years via GIO, social media, etc....

Should be an interesting year?

Veteran's Day Parade Greenville TX 5 NOV 22

Aaaaahhhhhhhh... what a day!  Greenville hosted the Hunt County parade today, and our chapter participated with a great turnout.  Weather cooperated even though it was a nippy upper 40s when we first hopped on the bikes. It'd be headed upwards, short of 60deg by the time I pulled the plug.  Chief and I met up at the old Village Market store and headed to QT for the Chapter meetup.  By 0930 we were all rolling into town with a small MC in our mix and some stragglers.  Dutch led us to the meet point north of Lee St where other motorcycles were in place as well as other folks participating.  By 1010 hrs we were moving down Lee St, to a nice crowd.  Not a huge crowd, but a nice group nonetheless.  We looped around to Washington St then to a holding area. The ride was a LOT of Stop and Go and Firehot's left hand was giving up the ghost; not a good thing since that's the clutch hand (which was the cause).   After fifteen minutes she joined us along with Honey Badger whom had stayed back with her (well done!). From there, we all moved on to the VFW where Big T had put together a nice BBQ layout along with the VFW Auxiliary; Perfect!  Highlight for me personally besides all the above, got to take out the Trike finally.  Wish I'd had the flag pole setup on it, but .... soon!

Bottom line.  We had a great showing as a Chapter.  Kudos to all!

Chilly out!

Waiting for Chief and KAL to roll up
