Great Day for a Meeting!
Yesterday was our CVMA® 23-11 Annual Meeting at the VFW in Tawakoni, and I have to say—it was one hell of a good day.
I didn’t really try to set any records, but I got a LOT of smiles when we wrapped up the entire annual meeting in about 30 minutes! 😂
We had a few important changes to take care of.
After serving our Chapter for almost six years as XO, Goose chose not to run again, essentially stepping down from the position. That's a long time to serve in one of the key leadership positions of a Chapter, and we definitely appreciate everything he's done for 23-11 over those years.
EasyOut stepped up to run for XO, and with nobody running against him, he'll be taking over the position.
Swamprat, our Secretary, and Fluffy, our PRO, also had nobody running against them. So, with only one candidate for each position, we handled the required business, made the motions, took the votes and...
DONE!
No need to turn a meeting into an all-day event just because you can. 😎
We also had some other great Chapter business.
Headshot and Sarah recently transferred in from out of state and attended their first meeting with 23-11.
We also officially patched in Uplink! Always a great moment when we get to welcome another member into the Chapter.
And we had some visitors in the house!
Chapter 23-31 rolled in with four folks, led by Safety Jim — a Texas Original. Always good having brothers and sisters from another Chapter come hang out with us.
But the day started long before the meeting...
We kicked everything off with breakfast at the Texas Cafe, and they absolutely knocked it out of the park.
Good food, good service and a bunch of bikers taking over breakfast. Hard to beat that.
From there, we had a quick group ride over to the VFW, arriving a little early. We finally kicked the meeting off right at 1100.
By 1130, the meeting was DONE and we were kicking back, drinking beers and enjoying the day.
That was supposed to be about it for me.
My plan was to head home, jump in the pool and relax.
Yeah... that didn't happen. 😂
Four hours later, we were STILL at the VFW, drinking beers, telling stories, laughing and just having a damn good time.
Eventually somebody decided food might be a good idea, so we moved the party over to BrewBirds to grab some grub and keep things going.
By the time we finally made it home, what started as a quick breakfast and Chapter meeting had turned into about a NINE-HOUR DAY!
And I was BEAT!!!
But that's what makes these days great.
The meeting itself lasted 30 minutes.
The friendships, riding, stories, beers, laughs and camaraderie lasted the other eight and a half hours.
That's the way it's supposed to be.
Another Annual Meeting is in the books, we've got some new folks stepping into leadership, new members joining the Chapter, and we're moving forward.
